Engineering Disclaimer
Engineering Disclaimer
What our platform does, what it does not do, and where responsibility sits.
Version 1.0
In short. Our platform produces engineering work for a qualified person to review. It can be wrong. You stay the engineer of record, you review every output before it is built, and compliance, testing and certification remain yours. We do not do medical, and we are not qualified for safety-critical use.
01
What this document is
This is a plain statement of what our platform does, what it does not do, and where responsibility sits. It forms part of our Terms of Use, and it applies to everything the platform produces.
We have written it to be read rather than to be relied on in an argument. If any part of it is unclear, ask us and we will explain it.
02
The platform assists engineering judgement. It does not replace it.
Our platform produces engineering outputs — specifications, schematics, layouts, bills of materials, firmware and manufacturing packages. Those outputs are work product for a qualified person to review, not decisions that have already been made.
At no point does the platform certify, approve or sign off anything. It does not proceed past you. Every stage ends with something you look at and accept.
03
Outputs can be wrong
The platform can produce results that are incomplete, unsuitable for your application, or simply incorrect. This is a property of the technology and we are not going to pretend otherwise.
You must review every output before it is manufactured, deployed, integrated or relied upon. A review is not a formality and it is not something we can do on your behalf.
04
You remain the engineer of record
Using our platform does not transfer engineering responsibility to us. You, or the qualified person you appoint, remain responsible for the design decisions in your product, for its fitness for its intended purpose, and for its safety.
Where a design must be reviewed, approved, tested or certified by a qualified or licensed person, that requirement applies exactly as it would to any other design work.
05
Compliance, testing and certification are yours
We do not certify products. We do not test products. We do not obtain approvals on your behalf unless we have separately agreed in writing to do so.
Meeting the standards, regulations and approval requirements that apply to your product in the markets where you sell it — safety, electromagnetic compatibility, radio, environmental, import, labelling and anything else — is your responsibility.
06
Component information
Information about components, including specifications and availability, comes from what manufacturers and suppliers publish, and it changes. A part that is available when a design is produced may not be available when you build.
Confirm every component against the manufacturer’s current published information before you commit to a production run.
07
Simulation and prediction are not results
Where the platform models, estimates or predicts how something will behave, that is a model. Real hardware behaves differently from models, and the difference is sometimes the whole problem.
Nothing the platform predicts removes the need to build a prototype and measure it.
08
Safety-critical and high-risk applications
Our platform is not qualified for use in applications where a failure could cause death, serious injury, or severe environmental or property damage — including life support, medical devices, aviation and aerospace control, nuclear facilities, and safety-critical control functions in automotive or industrial systems.
This exclusion is about safety-critical control, not about a whole industry. Automotive and industrial work is squarely within what we do; a function whose failure could injure someone is the part that carries the extra burden.
If you intend to use our outputs in any such application, the qualification, verification and certification burden is entirely yours, and you should tell us before you begin so that we can be clear with each other about what we are and are not doing.
09
No medical, clinical or diagnostic use
Nothing we produce is intended for a medical purpose. Our platform is not a medical device, it does not diagnose, treat, cure, prevent or mitigate any condition, and nothing we publish should be read as a claim that it does.
Software intended for a medical purpose can itself be a regulated medical device in India under the Medical Devices Rules, 2017. If your product has a medical purpose, that regulatory burden is yours, and you should take your own advice on it before you begin.
10
Timescales and outcomes
We do not guarantee that a design will be completed within a given period, that a product will work first time, or that a design will reach production. Hardware development is uncertain, and any company telling you otherwise is selling you something.
Where we agree a timescale in writing, that agreed timescale applies. Nothing described on this website is a timescale.
11
Beta and early access
Where you are using the platform in early access, capability changes, outputs improve, and things occasionally break. That is what early access means, and it is the reason early access exists.
Do not plan a critical delivery around a capability that is still in early access without telling us, so that we can tell you honestly whether it will hold.
12
How this sits with everything else
This disclaimer forms part of our Terms of Use. Where you have signed an agreement with us for use of the platform, that agreement governs, and where it addresses a subject covered here, the agreement prevails for that subject.
Nothing here limits any liability that cannot lawfully be limited, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for wilful misconduct.
